On Monday, April 6, 2026, Google announced the introduction of a new “Speed” video playback editing tool for the video editing suite within the Android version of the “Google Photos” app.
The new “Speed” video editing tool for Android Google Photos allows users to change playback speeds to [1/4x], [1/2x], [1x], [2x], or [4x]. In addition to changing the speed of an entire video, users can also use the seek bar to select specific sections and apply speed changes to only those parts.
The new “Speed” editing tool for the Android Google Photos app is already being rolled out in the latest version of the application.


Note that a similar editing tool is already available in the iOS version of the “Google Photos” app.
