Gemini rollout for Android Auto begins

  • Google finally begins rolling out its AI, Gemini, for the car operating system Android Auto.
  • The rollout takes the form of an upgrade, replacing the existing Google Assistant with Gemini.
  • It will be gradually rolled out for 45 languages worldwide starting Thursday, November 20, 2025.

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, Google finally began rolling out its AI, Gemini, for the car operating system Android Auto. This feature was first previewed on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at “The Android Show: I/O Edition,” a special online event for Android platform updates, and was later announced on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, as part of the “New Android features (June 2025 edition)”.

Gemini’s integration into Android Auto is being rolled out as an upgrade to the existing Google Assistant. With Google Assistant on Android Auto upgraded to Gemini, users can give instructions and perform operations through more natural conversation, such as getting optimal navigation routes, finding gas stations on the way to a destination, and summarizing or replying to received messages (SMS/email).

Incidentally, while it was initially announced that the intuitive conversational service “Gemini Live” would also be rolled out with Gemini on Android Auto, this latest announcement about the Gemini integration launch makes no specific mention of it.

The rollout of Gemini for Android Auto begins on Thursday, November 20, 2025, gradually expanding to 45 languages worldwide. The world of “Knight Rider” is finally becoming a reality.
