Windows 11「Androidアプリ」2025年3月5日（水）サポート終了

Microsoft は 2024 年 3 月 5 日（火）、Windows 11 上「Android アプリ」を動かすことができる仮想システム「Windows Subsystem for Android（WSA / Android 用 Windows サブシステム）」のサポート終了を発表しました。

「WSA」は、Windows 11 上で「Android アプリ」を動かすことができる夢の機能として、2021 年 6 月の Windows 11 と共に Microsoft より発表されました。その後 2022 年 9 月にプレビュー版として一般公開された Windows 11 版「Amazon アプリストア」と共に Windows 11 での「Android アプリ」サポートが開始されたわけですが、残念ながら 1 年後の 2025 年 3 月 5 日（水）で「WSA」のサポートが終了となります。

また合わせて、Windows 11 版「Amazon アプリストア」のサポートも終了します。逆に、2025 年 3 月 5 日（水）までは Windows 11 版「Amazon アプリストア」からインストールした「Android アプリ」を利用することは可能です。

ちなみに Microsoft は、Windows 11 における「WSA」サポート終了の理由は明らかにしていません。

「WSA」、Windows で「Android アプリ」を動かすことができる待望の機能だったわけですが、「Google Play ストア」ではなく「Amazon アプリストア」経由でのサポートということで、若干拍子抜けした感はあったかもしれません。実際私も使ったことはないですし、あまり利便性は高くなかったのかも。

Microsoft is ending support for the Windows Subsystem for Android™️ (WSA). As a result, the Amazon Appstore on Windows and all applications and games dependent on WSA will no longer be supported beginning March 5, 2025. Until then, technical support will remain available to customers.
Customers that have installed the Amazon Appstore or Android apps prior to March 5, 2024, will continue to have access to those apps through the deprecation date of March 5, 2025.
