- Google has announced the official rollout of “Notebooks (NotebookLM)” to free users on the Android and iOS versions of the “Gemini” app.
- Users can now create new “Notebooks” directly within the Gemini app, upload information sources, and request summaries or insights, just as they would with NotebookLM.
- Notebooks created within the Gemini app sync with NotebookLM, and notebooks created in NotebookLM sync seamlessly back to the Gemini app.
On Thursday, April 30, 2026 (local time), Google announced the official rollout of “Notebooks (NotebookLM)” for the Gemini app on Android and iOS.
The integration of the AI research tool “NotebookLM (Google NotebookLM)” into the Gemini app was originally announced on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, and was initially rolled out to the web version of the Gemini app. Following that, it was confirmed to be rolling out to Android and iOS Gemini apps for Google One “Google AI Ultra,” “Google AI Pro,” and “Google AI Plus” members.
With this announcement, the rollout of “Notebooks” has been officially extended to free users, in addition to existing Google AI plan members.

The integration of “Notebooks (NotebookLM)” allows users to leverage NotebookLM features directly within the Gemini interface. You can create new notebooks, upload source materials, and ask for summaries or answers based on that content, just as you would in the standalone NotebookLM experience.
Furthermore, the integration ensures that your notebooks are synced between the Gemini app and the NotebookLM service. This means that any notebook created in the Gemini app will appear in NotebookLM, and vice versa.
On the NotebookLM side, you can also continue to utilize “Studio” features for generating content such as “Audio Overviews,” “Video Overviews,” and “Infographics.”
