Google recently released the final beta, “Android 17 Beta 4,” on Thursday, April 16, 2026, ahead of the official launch of the next-generation Android 17 OS.

Although only one week has passed, “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1,” the first beta update for the Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) scheduled after the official Android 17 launch, has already been released. Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 is being distributed via Over the Air (OTA) software updates to Google Pixel devices registered in the pre-release Android OS trial program, the Android Beta Program. The eligible devices include: Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Fold, Tablet, 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a, 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, and 10a.

With this Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 update, the new generation budget-friendly Google Pixel device, “Pixel 10a,” has also been newly added to the Android Beta Program device lineup.

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 includes various fixes and improvements based on the official Android 17 release. It also introduces some features from the new Google Pixel feature set, “Pixel Drop” (formerly Feature Drop).

Furthermore, Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 addresses the following four issues:

・Fixed an issue where the default print service would crash when ink levels were low, preventing users from completing print jobs.
・Fixed an issue where terminal apps would trigger an “Application Not Responding” (ANR) error, causing the application and device to become unresponsive.
・Fixed an issue causing distortion or phase cancellation in VoIP applications due to a loss of control over hardware audio processing in the audio communication path.
・Fixed an issue on devices using AIDL audio HAL where direct audio output might fail to open when playing audio streams longer than 5 seconds.
Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 Bug Fixes

Following the Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 update, the build number will be “CP31.260403.005.A1,” the Android security patch will be “April 5, 2026,” and the “Google Play services” app will be updated to v26.11.36 or later.
