On Tuesday, June 16, 2026 (local time), Google began rolling out the “Wear OS 7” major update for three series of Google Pixel smartwatches: the 2nd generation “Google Pixel Watch 2,” the 3rd generation “Google Pixel Watch 3,” and the 4th generation “Google Pixel Watch 4.”
The new-generation “Wear OS 7” evolves into a highly reliable, everyday platform, anchored by four main features: “Live Updates” support, Media Output Switcher support, “Gemini Intelligence,” and up to a 10% improvement in battery life.
More new products and features are expected to launch in late 2026.
“Live Updates” Support
“Wear OS 7” now supports “Live Updates,” a feature introduced starting with Android 16.
You can track ongoing activities in real-time, such as sports scores, food delivery times, and workout progress.
Media Output Switcher Support
“Wear OS 7” has been redesigned from the ground up to improve integration with connected devices such as earphones and “intelligent eyewear.”
For example, photos taken with “intelligent eyewear” will now appear on your Wear OS smartwatch, allowing you to check them instantly. Additionally, with support for the Media Output Switcher, you can control media playback—such as switching between headphones and home speakers—just as you would on an Android device.
“Gemini Intelligence”
In late 2026, “Gemini Intelligence,” a next-generation intelligent system, will be rolled out for “Wear OS 7.”
“Gemini Intelligence” will enable features like “Create My Widget” for building custom widgets and “Screen Automation” for app automation. It also incorporates Gemini’s new design language, “Neural Expressive,” as well as “Personal Intelligence” capabilities.
Up to 10% Improvement in Battery Life
Through thorough system-level power optimization, “Wear OS 7” offers up to a 10% improvement in battery life compared to Wear OS 6.
