Google Pixel Watch 2/3: Wear OS 6 Major Update Now Rolling Out

The October 2025 software update, which includes the major update to “Wear OS 6,” began rolling out on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, for the 2nd generation “Google Pixel Watch 2” and 3rd generation “Google Pixel Watch 3” smartwatches.

While Google has not yet officially announced the details of the “Wear OS 6” major update for the “Google Pixel Watch 2” and “Google Pixel Watch 3,” it’s clear the rollout has begun. This is because the Factory Image and OTA Image download pages for the Google Pixel Watch series now list build number “BP3A.250905.014.W3” for both the “Google Pixel Watch 2” and “Google Pixel Watch 3.” I have also confirmed the October 2025 software update on my own 4G LTE model of the “Google Pixel Watch 3.”

After the “Wear OS 6” major update, the build number will be updated to “BP3A.250905.014.W3,” and the Android security patch level to “September 5, 2025.”

For reference, “Wear OS 6” is based on the new generation Android OS, “Android 16.” Following the major “Wear OS 6” update, the latest design system update, “Material 3 Expressive,” will also be introduced, significantly overhauling the UI/UX. It’s a feature-packed update, including the introduction of new “Theme Options.”

Additionally, for the Japanese models of “Google Pixel Watch 2” and “Google Pixel Watch 3,” the “ECG (Fitbit ECG)” feature has also been enabled in Japan along with the “Wear OS 6” major update.

Software updates for the “Google Pixel Watch” series are delivered “Over the Air (OTA).” You can check if a software update is available by going to Wear OS Settings > System > About > System updates.

Also, as a little trick, if you repeatedly tap the watch icon on the [System updates] screen, the software update will often appear more quickly.
