- The “Trade-in Program” on the Google Store, Google’s official e-commerce site, which offers discounts for trading in old devices when purchasing new Google Pixel devices, has been improved.
- An instant discount for the estimated trade-in value has been introduced, meaning the value is now applied directly to the purchase price at the time of buying a new Google Pixel device.
- It appears that this instant discount for the trade-in program has not yet been introduced to the Google Store in Japan.
On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Google officially announced the next generation of its budget-friendly Google Pixel device, the “Pixel 10a,” in overseas markets such as the US and simultaneously opened pre-orders.
Along with this launch, the “Trade-in Program” on Google’s official e-commerce site, the Google Store—which allows users to receive discounts by trading in old devices when purchasing new Google Pixel devices—has reportedly been improved.
The improvement to the “Trade-in Program” pertains to the timing of when the trade-in value is applied. Previously, when using the trade-in program to purchase a new Google Pixel device, the full amount was charged first, and the assessed trade-in value was refunded at a later date.
Following the update, an instant discount for the estimated trade-in value has been introduced, allowing the trade-in amount to be reflected as a discount on the purchase price at the time of the transaction. Naturally, it remains mandatory to send in the used device within 30 days of applying for the trade-in.
Furthermore, if the final assessment value differs from the initial estimate, an additional charge or refund will be processed accordingly.

Incidentally, it appears that this instant discount for the trade-in program has not yet been introduced to the Google Store in Japan.
