The New SwitchBot Keypad Vision Pro: How It Differs from Existing Models

Key Points of This Article
  • SwitchBot has published the differences between the new “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad Pro” and existing lock unlocking accessories for the “SwitchBot Lock” series on its official “SwitchBot Support” help site.
  • It appears to be a model based on the “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad” that simply adds palm vein authentication.
  • The size and battery capacity are the same as the “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad.”

In late November 2025, the No. 1 IoT device brand, SwitchBot, published an article on its official help site, “SwitchBot Support.” The article details the differences (Differences between Keypad, Keypad Touch, Facial Recognition Pad, and Facial Recognition Pad Pro) between its existing lock unlocking accessories for the “SwitchBot Lock” series and the new “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad Pro.” The “Pro” model was one of the new products announced in conjunction with the “IFA 2025” international consumer electronics show held in September 2025.

As its name suggests, the “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad Pro” is a higher-end model of the “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad.” Its key feature is support for palm vein authentication in addition to fingerprint, facial recognition, NFC, FeliCa (Suica), and passcodes. However, other details were previously unknown.

However, the newly published article, “Differences between Keypad, Keypad Touch, Facial Recognition Pad, and Facial Recognition Pad Pro,” has now clarified the differences, mainly in comparison to the “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad.” In short, it appears to be a model based on the “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad” with the sole addition of palm vein authentication. The size and battery capacity are identical to the “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad.”

Incidentally, it seems that up to 100 palm vein patterns can be registered.

A product page for the “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad Pro” has also appeared on Amazon.co.jp in Japan, and its release is expected soon. However, the key detail of its price remains unknown.

The official price for the standard “SwitchBot Facial Recognition Pad” is 16,980 yen including tax, so it is certain that the Pro model will be more expensive.
