On Monday, February 9, 2026, the leading IoT device brand SwitchBot released additional information regarding the support for “OpenClaw,” an open-source self-hosted AI agent, on its AI-powered hub product, the “SwitchBot AI Hub,” following a recent announcement.
The newly released information covers the timing for OpenClaw support on the “SwitchBot AI Hub” as well as a setup and demonstration video.
First, OpenClaw support for the “SwitchBot AI Hub” will be implemented through the official app to be released in late February 2026. The published setup and demonstration video showcases a setup process that seems unsuitable for beginners, along with the actual behavior when used in conjunction with the “SwitchBot Smart Video Doorbell.”
The setup for OpenClaw support on the “SwitchBot AI Hub” is designed to be performed via the “SwitchBot” app for Android and iOS. However, it appears that several complex steps are mandatory, starting with issuing and entering an OpenAI API key and selecting the AI model to be used, among other intricate procedures. Nevertheless, the demonstration video using the “SwitchBot Smart Video Doorbell” reveals a very convenient workflow: when the doorbell is pressed, a notification is sent via “Discord,” followed by a description of the visitor and a suggested automated response tailored to that visitor.
While the setup appears complicated, integrating the “SwitchBot AI Hub” with “OpenClaw” seems poised to significantly evolve the smart home experience through the power of AI.
