On Friday, December 12, 2025, Google announced the introduction of its Gemini-based voice generation AI model, Gemini 2.5 Flash Native Audio, to Search Live. Search Live is a new feature in its conversational “AI Mode” that began its official US rollout on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
“Search Live” is a feature in the Google app for Android/iOS that activates the camera when you tap “Search Live” in “AI Mode.” It allows you to point the camera at a subject and ask a question with your voice, and the AI will respond with a spoken answer. With the integration of the Gemini-based voice generation AI model “Gemini 2.5 Flash Native Audio,” Search Live will deliver smoother and more natural voice responses.
“Search Live,” now featuring “Gemini 2.5 Flash Native Audio,” will be rolled out to all users in the US over the next week.
