On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the March 2026 monthly software update was released for Google Pixel devices (Pixel 6 and later), which run the next-generation Android 16 OS.
In conjunction with this March 2026 software update for Google Pixel devices, the new March 2026 “Pixel Drop” features were also announced and have begun rolling out.
jetstream.blogThen, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, the “Theme Pack” app—which first launched for Google Pixel devices in November 2025—received an update to version v1.0.868407176.release, finally introducing the new “SpongeBob SquarePants” theme. While “Theme Pack” itself has been available overseas since November 2025, initially featuring themes inspired by the movie “Wicked”, the “SpongeBob” theme marks the first time this content has been brought to the “Theme Pack” app in Japan.
After applying the “Theme Pack” app update (v1.0.868407176.release), you can access the newly added “Theme Pack” section in the “Wallpaper & style” settings on your Google Pixel device to apply the SpongeBob theme. The SpongeBob theme includes three variations: “Ready to Go!”, “Best Kids”, and “Fancy”.
By applying a “Theme Pack,” your wallpaper, icons, system sounds, and GIF animations will be customized to match that specific theme.
Please note that the SpongeBob theme in the “Theme Pack” app is available for a limited time until Friday, May 1, 2026. Additionally, please be aware that the Pixel Tablet does not support the “Theme Pack” app.
