On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Google released the March 2026 monthly software update, “Android 16 QPR3,” for a total of 21 Google Pixel devices, including the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Tablet, Fold, 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a, 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, and 10a. This update includes the usual monthly security vulnerability fixes and performance enhancements.

This “Android 16 QPR3” software update for Google Pixel devices also rolls out numerous new features, including the March 2026 “Pixel Drop.”

However, the update also contains several unannounced new features and functional changes. Among the most notable is the unification of the search bar in the default “Pixel Launcher” with the search bar widget from the Android “Google” app.

Previously, the Pixel Launcher featured its own unique search bar. Following the “Android 16 QPR3” update, this has been unified with the search bar widget found in the Android “Google” app. This change also enables new options for customizing the search bar.

While the Pixel Launcher search bar is now essentially a widget, please note that it cannot be removed. It remains fixed in its original position, just as it was before.
