Reports have begun surfacing on the major social news site Reddit that cross-platform interoperability between “Quick Share” and “AirDrop” is now available on the “Pixel 9 Pro” and “Pixel 9.”

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, cross-platform interoperability between Android’s proximity sharing feature “Quick Share” and Apple’s “AirDrop” was unlocked for the Google Pixel 10 series, including the “Pixel 10,” “Pixel 10 Pro,” “Pixel 10 Pro XL,” and “Pixel 10 Pro Fold.”

While an expansion to devices beyond the Pixel 10 series was promised at that time, it appears the rollout of Quick Share and AirDrop interoperability finally began expanding in mid-February 2026. Although Google has not yet made an official announcement, reports are starting to appear on the social news site Reddit stating that interoperability is now possible on the “Pixel 9 Pro” and “Pixel 9.”

According to these reports, the interoperability was enabled by applying the latest “Google Play System Update” and restarting the device, along with updating the “Quick Share Extension” app found in the “System Services” list of Android system apps. It is also possible that an update to the “Google Play services” app is required.

The rollout of Quick Share and AirDrop interoperability for the “Pixel 9” series has likely just started and may not have reached all users yet, but it should be deploying gradually. Furthermore, an official announcement from Google is expected in the near future.
