Second Month Running: Pixel 6 and 7 Series February 2026 Update Not Released

Key Points of This Article
  • Following the skip in January 2026, the February 2026 monthly software update has also not been released for five models: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro.
  • Surprisingly, these devices have now gone two consecutive months without a monthly software update.
  • The next monthly software update in March 2026 is expected to be released without being skipped.

On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Google began rolling out the February 2026 monthly software update, which includes security vulnerability fixes and functional enhancements, for 15 Google Pixel devices running the next-generation Android 16 OS: the Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Meanwhile, for five models—the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro—the February 2026 monthly software update remains unreleased, continuing the trend from January 2026. For these five models, the monthly software update has now been skipped for two months in a row.

However, according to some reports, Google has reviewed its delivery criteria for the previously monthly software updates and is reportedly switching to a quarterly software update schedule for older Google Pixel devices (legacy devices). While it has not been clearly defined which models are considered “legacy devices,” it most likely refers to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series.

For the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series, the next monthly software update in March 2026 should not be skipped.
