Pixel 6/6a/7 May 2026 Monthly Update Not Released

On Tuesday, May 5, 2026 (local time), Google began rolling out the May 2026 monthly software update for 16 Google Pixel devices running the new-generation “Android 16” OS, including the Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and Pixel 10a. This update includes security vulnerability fixes and various feature enhancements.

However, the May 2026 update has not been released for five models: the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. While these models had consistently received the March and April 2026 updates, the May update marks the first time in a while that they have been skipped.

This is expected to be due to the shift to a quarterly software update schedule for older Google Pixel devices (legacy devices), such as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series. That said, this change in distribution criteria has only been communicated by Google Support in response to user inquiries and has not been officially announced by Google in a broad, public statement.

Because of this, the May 2026 update has not reached the five models (Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro), while it has been released for the Pixel 7a, resulting in what appears to be a somewhat randomized distribution status.
