Phone by Google: Calling Card Self-Setting Rollout

Key Points of This Article
  • A custom setup feature is rolling out to the “Calling Card” function in “Phone by Google,” allowing users to create their own Calling Cards.
  • When you call another user with a compatible Android device that also supports Calling Cards, the card you created will be displayed on their screen.
  • The rollout currently appears to be limited to certain Android devices.

The “Calling Card” feature for the “Phone by Google” app, the default dialer for Android devices, was initially introduced on Thursday, August 14, 2025, alongside the latest Material Design update, “Material 3 Expressive.” This feature allows users to customize the incoming and in-call screen displays for individual contacts.

Around February 2026, a new custom setup began rolling out for these “Calling Cards” in the “Phone by Google” app, enabling users to create their own personalized cards. Previously, Calling Cards could only be configured for contacts saved in “Google Contacts.” However, with the launch of this self-creation feature, your custom “Calling Card” will now be displayed to recipients when you call other users who are also using compatible Android devices.

Additionally, visibility control settings are available, allowing you to restrict who sees your custom “Calling Card” to only those users with whom you have previously had a conversation in “Google Messages.”

I have confirmed the presence of the custom “Calling Card” setup in “Phone by Google” app version v211 and later, though it currently seems to be rolling out to only a subset of Android devices. While I have confirmed the rollout on my “Pixel 9a,” I have not yet been able to verify it on the “Pixel 10,” “Pixel 10 Pro XL,” or “Pixel 10 Pro Fold.” It is expected to become more widely available in the future.
