UK-based tech venture Nothing Technology (Nothing) announced on Friday, July 3, 2026, the end of the software lifecycle for its first Android device, the “Phone (1).”
The “Phone (1)” was officially announced on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, as Nothing’s first Android device. In Japan, it followed a pre-sale on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, before its official release on Friday, August 19, 2022.
Although the “Phone (1)” launched with Android 12, it consistently received OS major updates for Android 13, 14, and 15. Notably, the “Phone (1)” was promised three years of OS major updates and four years of security updates from the time of its release.

The Android 15 major update for the “Phone (1)” (Nothing OS V3.0-250108-1938) was released on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, which marked the end of major OS updates for the device. Following that, the company continued to provide software updates, including security patches.
The software lifecycle has now officially concluded with the final software update, “Nothing OS V3.2-260618-1045,” released on Friday, July 3, 2026—exactly four years since its global launch. This final update for the “Phone (1)” includes general improvements, bug fixes, enhancements to overall system stability, and the Android security patch level update for “July 2026.”
