Gemini for Home Comes to Nest Mini, Audio, Hub, and Hub Max

  • Google announces that “Nest Mini,” “Nest Audio,” “Nest Hub,” and “Nest Hub Max” will support “Gemini for Home.”
  • However, the original “Google Home,” “Google Home Mini,” and “Google Home Max” will not support “Gemini for Home.”
  • It is expected that they will likely continue to operate with “Google Assistant” as long as support continues.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Google announced the next-generation smart home service “Google Home,” integrated with its AI “Gemini,” as well as its Google AI, “Gemini for Home.”

“Gemini for Home” will be supported by four new products announced on the same day: the new smart cameras “Google Nest Cam Indoor (wired / 3rd gen)” and “Google Nest Cam Outdoor (wired / 2nd gen),” the smart doorbell “Nest Doorbell (3rd gen),” and the new smart speaker “Google Home.” However, it appears that existing smart speakers “Nest Mini” and “Nest Audio,” as well as smart displays “Nest Hub” and “Nest Hub Max,” will also support “Gemini for Home.”

Google has officially re-announced on its social media accounts that “Nest Mini,” “Nest Audio,” “Nest Hub,” and “Nest Hub Max” will support “Gemini for Home.”

On the other hand, the original “Google Home,” “Google Home Mini,” and “Google Home Max” will apparently not support “Gemini for Home.” It is expected that these original devices will likely continue to operate with “Google Assistant” for as long as they are supported.

For reference, “Gemini for Home” for Google Home / Nest devices will begin rolling out in the U.S. as an early access “Public Preview” starting Tuesday, October 28, 2025, but it is scheduled for release in Japan in early 2026. This means we will have to wait a little while for Japanese language support for “Gemini for Home.”
