Mystery: Second December 2025 Update Rolling Out to Some Google Pixels

Key Points of This Article
  • A second December 2025 monthly update is being rolled out to select Google Pixel devices.
  • Details remain unknown as neither Google nor related carriers like SoftBank and au have made an official announcement regarding this second December 2025 update.
  • This is expected to be a further minor update related to the “Android 16 QPR2” minor OS update (part of the Android 16 major update), which began rolling out on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, but was paused as of Monday, December 15, 2025.

Around Thursday, December 18, 2025, a second December 2025 monthly update began rolling out to select Google Pixel devices.

While details are currently scarce as Google and partner carriers such as SoftBank and au have not yet officially announced this second December update, I can confirm that among my own devices, the Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold have received it. Meanwhile, the standard Pixel 10 has not yet received the update.

Following the update, the build number has been updated to “BP4A.251205.006.C2.”

This newly released second December 2025 update is presumed to be a further minor fix related to “Android 16 QPR2″—the minor OS update for the Android 16 major update—which started rolling out on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, but was paused as of Monday, December 15, 2025. The reason for the Android 16 QPR2 pause was cited as “items requiring verification were detected after the software update,” suggesting a potentially critical bug was found. Stay tuned for further updates.
