- Motorola has officially announced the “moto tag 2,” a new Bluetooth tracker compatible with Google’s location tracking service, “Find Hub.”

On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Motorola officially announced the “moto tag 2,” a new Bluetooth tracker compatible with Google’s location service, “Find Hub.”
As the name suggests, the “moto tag 2” is the successor to the original “moto tag” announced in June 2024. The “moto tag 2” primarily offers improved functionality and performance, including longer battery life, a better water and dust resistance rating, and support for “Channel Sounding,” a new Bluetooth feature for precise distance measurement.
However, the release is currently scheduled for late 2026.

The “moto tag 2” is a Bluetooth tracker designed to work with Google’s “Find Hub” location tracking service.
While the “moto tag 2” retains the same size and design as the original “moto tag,” the color options have been updated to a two-tone lineup: “PANTONE Arabesque” and “PANTONE Laurel Oak.” Since the original “moto tag” shared the same form factor as Apple’s “AirTag,” the “moto tag 2” follows suit, allowing users to reuse existing “AirTag” accessories.
The “moto tag 2” is equipped with a multi-function button. By simply pressing the button, you can trigger an alert on your paired Android device to help find it. Additionally, this multi-function button can serve as a remote shutter for your camera app.
Like its predecessor, it supports Ultra-Wideband (UWB). Furthermore, the “moto tag 2” incorporates “Channel Sounding,” a new Bluetooth technology that enables highly accurate distance measurement. This allows for even more precise location tracking when used with Android devices running “Android 16” or later that support Bluetooth v6.0.
The “moto tag 2” features an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, an upgrade from the original’s IP67. While it still uses a “CR2032” coin-cell battery like the first model, battery life has been significantly boosted from approximately one year to over 500 days of operation.
The original “moto tag” has yet to be released in Japan, leaving many to wonder if the “moto tag 2” will eventually make its way to the Japanese market.
