On Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (local time), Google announced a major update to the Gemini on macOS app, which was released in mid-April 2026, during their developer event “Google I/O 2026.”
In the summer of 2026, the personal AI agent “Gemini Spark” will be introduced to the Gemini on macOS app for “Google AI Ultra” members. This will enable the automation of desktop workflows and tasks related to local files.
Additionally, “Rambler,” a new voice input feature for the “Gboard” app—which is being integrated into the next-generation “Gemini Intelligence” system—is also planned for integration into the Gemini on macOS app. “Rambler” automatically removes filler words like “um” and “uh” during voice input and streamlines redundant repetitions to extract only the core points.
The major update for the Gemini on macOS app is scheduled to roll out sequentially starting in the latter half of the summer of 2026.
