“Lens in Maps” is an expansion of “Live View,” an AR walking navigation feature that displays arrows and markers over outdoor scenery captured by the rear camera on the smartphone screen. Google’s AI “Gemini” has also been integrated, with a renewed rollout starting in the U.S. in late November 2025.

However, as of late December 2025, “Lens in Maps” is no longer available on some Android devices. The “Lens in Maps” icon has disappeared from the “Google Maps” app on certain Android handsets.


This disappearance of “Lens in Maps” is likely due to a temporary bug or a similar issue. Nevertheless, since this feature is also utilized as an accessibility feature for people with disabilities, a prompt recovery is highly desired.
