On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Google announced the 10th anniversary of the online photo library service “Google Photos” and unveiled a new photo editor that brings powerful photo editing tools together in one place.
Following this, the new photo editor (photo editing tool) for “Google Photos” began rolling out to the Android version of the “Google Photos” app in late July 2025, over a year ago. Its expansion to the iOS version of the “Google Photos” app was also teased for sometime in 2025. However, the new photo editor was not rolled out to the iOS version of the “Google Photos” app at all.
Amidst this, the new photo editor has finally started rolling out with the iOS “Google Photos” app v7.90.0 / v7.91.0 released around early September 2026. Similar to the photo editor in the Android version of the “Google Photos” app, the new photo editor features a UI that integrates existing editing tools with AI capabilities like “Magic Editor.”
Furthermore, a search function for editing tools has also been implemented.
To put it simply, this is the long-awaited rollout of the new photo editor that iOS “Google Photos” app users have been waiting for.
