Google Photos Rolls Out “Creations” Tab on iOS in Japan

  • The Google Photos “Create” tab appears to have started rolling out to iOS devices in Japan.
  • I have confirmed the rollout on my iPhone Air.
  • However, the “Create” tab only includes the usual creative tools: Animation, Cinematic Photo, Collage, and Highlight Video.

In mid-August 2025, Google began rolling out a new “Create” tab in the US for the Android and iOS versions of its online photo library service, Google Photos. This tab consolidates creative tools such as Animation, Cinematic Photo, Collage, Highlight Video, Photo-to-video, and Remix.

This new “Create” tab not only makes it easier for users to access Google Photos’ creative tools but also provides access to new AI tools like Photo-to-video and Remix. However, it is still a US-exclusive rollout.

We previously reported on this site that the “Create” tab for Google Photos began rolling out to some Android versions of the app in Japan around mid-September 2025. Even in October 2025, the “Create” tab on the Android app is still only available to some users, but I have now confirmed its rollout on my iPhone Air.

In other words, the “Create” tab is now also rolling out to the iOS version of the Google Photos app in Japan. For reference, the app version is v7.48.

However, even in the iOS version of the Google Photos app, the “Create” tab only offers four creative tools: Animation, Cinematic Photo, Collage, and Highlight Video. The key features, Photo-to-video and Remix, have not been rolled out.

Although the “Create” tab is new, it only provides the same creative tools that were available before.
