On Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (local time), during the “Google I/O 2026” developer event, Google officially announced “Neural Expressive,” a new design language for the Google AI “Gemini” app, alongside a major revamp of the app itself.
The updated “Gemini” app introduces a novel and captivating design, featuring fluid animations, vibrant colors, new typography, and haptic feedback. While the UI and overall look have been completely overhauled, it seems a new Easter egg has also been tucked away.
This “Gemini” app Easter egg allows users to trigger the “Neural Expressive” animation by tapping the “Gemini” logo. In the “Neural Expressive”-enabled “Gemini” app, the animation typically plays around the prompt bar only when the app is first launched.
However, in the iOS version of the “Gemini” app, you can trigger the “Neural Expressive” animation even after the app has started by tapping the “Gemini” logo. Google has acknowledged that this is indeed an Easter egg hidden within the “Gemini” app.
That said, for some reason, this Easter egg is currently exclusive to the iOS version of the “Gemini” app.
