On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Apple began rolling out the iOS 26.3 software update for iOS devices.
With this iOS 26.3 software update, a cross-platform data transfer feature called “Transfer to Android” has been implemented, allowing users to move data such as photos, messages, apps, and phone numbers to Android devices. The “Transfer to Android” feature in iOS 26.3 enables the transfer of targeted data by pairing with Android devices running Android 16 or later.

To use “Transfer to Android,” place the iOS and Android devices side-by-side, start the “Transfer to Android” process from the iOS device, scan the QR code displayed on the Android device with the iOS device, and follow the on-screen instructions. However, currently, even when placing an Android device like the Pixel 10 running Android 16 nearby, the QR code for “Transfer to Android” does not appear. This suggests that while “Transfer to Android” has been implemented in iOS 26.3, it is not yet actually operational.
As a side note, Android devices running Android 16 have newly added a “Pair with iPhone or iPad” option, allowing the use of “Cross-Platform eSIM Transfer” to move eSIM profiles between iOS and Android. Previously, this “Pair with iPhone or iPad” section included an item called “Data Copy” for transferring data between iOS and Android, but this was removed at some point.
The “Transfer to Android” feature implemented in iOS 26.3 is expected to work in conjunction with the “Data Copy” feature in Android 16. In other words, while we are currently waiting for support on the Android side, the “Data Copy” feature in Android 16 is likely to be restored soon, making “Transfer to Android” functional.

Regarding the previously available “Cross-Platform eSIM Transfer,” it is currently only supported by US carriers AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, as well as the German carrier Telekom. Therefore, it cannot yet be used with Japanese carriers.
