On Thursday, August 6, 2026 (local time), Google announced a new feature for its digital wallet management service, “Google Wallet,” rolling out in the US: the ability to send money to “child accounts” managed through “Google Family Link.”
The money-transfer feature for “child accounts” in “Google Wallet” allows a “parent account” to transfer a bank balance to a “child account” for use with the “Google Pay” cashless payment service. In other words, without the need to assign a credit card or open a bank account for the “child account,” children can use transferred funds to make cashless payments.
“Parent accounts” can set spending limits on “Google Wallet” for “child accounts” and track transactions in real time. Additionally, support for automatic recurring transfers will be added in the future.
