  • Descriptions related to “Kitaca,” a transit IC service from JR Hokkaido, and “nimoca,” a transit IC service from nimoca Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of JR West, have been added as commented-out code to the HTML of the “Check supported payment methods (Japan)” page on “Google Wallet Help.”

  • A major renewal is anticipated for Google Wallet, including a new “E-wallet” section for NFC payments supporting services like “PayPay Money,” “au PAY,” and “d Payment”; functionality for charging e-wallets and person-to-person transfers via linked bank accounts; and the integration of cryptocurrency wallets, such as the “Rakuten Wallet” crypto exchange.

In other words, Google Wallet may support “ICOCA,” “TOICA,” “Kitaca,” and “nimoca” in the future.

In addition, a major renewal is anticipated for Google Wallet, including the rollout of a new “E-wallet” section for NFC tap payments with services like Softbank’s “PayPay Money,” KDDI’s “au PAY,” and NTT Docomo’s “d Payment”; support for charging the “E-wallet” and making peer-to-peer transfers by linking bank accounts such as “MUFG Bank,” “Mizuho Bank,” “Japan Post Bank,” and “Rakuten Bank”; and even the integration of cryptocurrency wallets, starting with “Rakuten Wallet,” a cryptocurrency exchange registered with the Financial Services Agency and part of the Rakuten Group.
