On Monday, April 27, 2026, Google announced the expansion of digital ID support for its Android digital wallet service, “Google Wallet.” This update includes support for storing India’s “Aadhaar” national identification number and the ability to create passport-based ID passes in Singapore, Taiwan, and Brazil.

India’s “Aadhaar” is a national identification system that serves as the cornerstone for India’s digital economy and administrative services, utilizing biometric authentication. Residents are issued a unique 12-digit number linked not only to their name, address, gender, and date of birth but also to fingerprint and iris scan data. This “Aadhaar” can now be stored directly in Google Wallet.

Additionally, users in Singapore, Taiwan, and Brazil can now create passport-based ID passes within Google Wallet. Since this feature was previously limited to the United States and the United Kingdom, the addition of these three countries brings the total number of supported regions to five.

In Japan, the “My Number Card for Android” service, which allows users to integrate the electronic certificate function of the “My Number Card” identification card, is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2026.
