In the September 2026 latest update for “Google System Updates” (“Google System Release Notes”) published on Monday, September 7, 2026, Google announced a new feature rolling out to the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app.
The new feature coming to the Android “Google Wallet” app is the ability to import physical transit card passes and balances using NFC. While this is expected to be limited to supported transit systems, it will allow users to easily import passes and balances from physical transit cards using their Android device’s NFC.
That said, Japanese transit IC cards like “Suica” and “PASMO” already have established integration features with the Android “Google Wallet” app, so they are likely not covered by this. Note that this feature is rolling out with the Android “Google Play services” app v26.35 and later.
Additionally, starting with Android “Google Play services” app v26.35 and later, a new “Card added” screen with an improved UI for the Android “Google Wallet” app will be introduced.
