On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Google introduced “Cartoon Avatars (2D/3D style)” as a new feature for “AI Avatars” within “Google Vids,” the AI-powered video creation assistant for the Google Workspace productivity suite.
“AI Avatars” in Google Vids is a feature that allows users to narrate input scripts through a selection of preset AI avatars. While it was initially launched only in English, as of February 24, 2026, it now supports a total of seven additional languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Korean, and Japanese.
With this latest update, two new types of avatars—”2D Cartoon Avatars” and “3D Cartoon Avatars”—have been added to the AI Avatar lineup. By utilizing these new cartoon-style avatars, users can generate videos that feel more approachable and friendly.

Please note that “AI Avatars” in Google Vids is a service exclusively for Google Workspace business accounts and subscribers of the Google AI plans (“Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra”) via the Google One online storage service. It is not currently available to standard Google users.
