On Friday, September 11, 2026, Google quietly updated the price of the “Google TV Streamer (4K)” streaming device—which was originally launched at 16,000 yen including tax two years ago in September 2024—and began selling it for 24,500 yen including tax.

While Google has previously raised product prices by around 20% without much fanfare, this time marks an unprecedented price hike of roughly 53%. To make matters worse, there was no prior announcement whatsoever—a sudden, stealthy price increase.

That said, this price adjustment for the Japanese market follows similar hikes in the US and other overseas regions that took place earlier in September 2026. In Japan, the price increase arrived a few days later.

As of now, the price hike for the “Google TV Streamer (4K)” is only reflected on the Google Store. Amazon.co.jp and Bic Camera in Japan still list it at the original 16,000 yen including tax.

However, since it is unclear when other channels might raise their prices, anyone considering purchasing the “Google TV Streamer (4K)” is advised to make a decision soon.
