On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Google announced six new features coming to the Google TV platform.
The newly announced Google TV features include the “Nano Banana” image generation model and “Veo” video generation model for “Gemini for TV,” voice search and “Remix” image transformation for Google Photos, dynamic slideshows, and a “Recommended Short Videos” section. While dynamic slideshows will be available globally, the other features are initially launching in the United States.
“Nano Banana”
A new “Create” tab is being added to “Gemini for TV,” Google’s AI for Google TV, allowing users to generate images using the “Nano Banana” image generation AI model.
Please note that this feature is initially rolling out to TCL Google TV devices in the U.S.
“Veo”
The new “Create” tab in “Gemini for TV” will also allow users to generate videos using the “Veo” video generation AI model.
This is also initially rolling out to TCL Google TV devices in the U.S.
Google Photos Voice Search
Users will be able to search for photos and videos in Google Photos using voice commands via “Gemini for TV” on Google TV.
Google Photos voice search is initially rolling out to Google TV devices in the U.S.
“Remix”
“Remix,” an AI editing feature, is coming to Google TV. It allows users to transform photos saved in Google Photos by selecting a desired style (such as anime, sketch, or 3D animation), and the AI will adjust the original photo accordingly.
The Google Photos “Remix” feature is initially rolling out to Google TV devices in the U.S.
Dynamic Slideshows
You can now turn your Google Photos albums into dynamic slideshows to play as a screensaver.
Simply open the screensaver settings via “Quick Settings” on your Google TV and select “Google Photos.” This dynamic slideshow feature will be available globally on Google TV devices with at least 2GB of RAM.
“Recommended Short Videos”

A new “Recommended Short Videos” section is coming to the Google TV home screen.
This section will showcase short-form content, including YouTube Shorts, tailored to the user for easy viewing. The “Recommended Short Videos” section is scheduled to launch in the U.S. in the summer of 2026.
