On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the Android version of Google’s stargazing app “Sky Map” began rolling out app version v2.0.5: Apollo, which has been completely rebuilt with a new engine and a new UI.

As previously reported in our exclusive app teardown content on this site, “Sky Map” app v2.0 has finally been officially released. The completely rebuilt “Sky Map” app v2.0 introduces a new engine, a new UI, and new features such as precise positioning and time display for the Moon, solar/lunar eclipses, and planets.

Additionally, as shown in the opening image, the logo for the completely rebuilt “Sky Map” app v2.0 has been refreshed. Google’s stargazing app “Sky Map” has a history of over 10 years, and this is likely its first-ever logo redesign.
