“Search Live” is a voice-interactive AI search feature based on the AI search “AI Mode.” While it offers intuitive conversation capabilities similar to Google AI’s “Gemini Live,” it tends to stay somewhat in the shadows.
“Search Live” has been quietly growing in presence, such as being added as a new shortcut in the “Google Search bar” widget within the Android version of the “Google” app.
That being said, “Search Live” is still very much like “Gemini Live.” To the average user, it doesn’t really matter which one you use.
Regardless, Google has quietly started refreshing the icon for “Search Live” since around early October 2026. Previously, “Search Live” used the same icon as “Gemini Live,” but a new icon has now been introduced. At a quick glance, the new icon looks similar to the Fitbit logo.
Please note that the new “Search Live” icon is rolling out gradually, starting with the Android version of the “Google” app. On the iOS version of the “Google” app, it currently continues to use the same icon as “Gemini Live.”
Also, this is merely an icon refresh, and there are no particular functional changes.
