Google Further Simplifies Non-Consensual Explicit Image Removal from Search

Key Points of This Article
  • Google has announced that it is further simplifying the request service it has long provided to remove non-consensual explicit sexual imagery from Google Search.
  • This service allows individuals to request the exclusion of web content from search results if explicit images of themselves or family members have been created or published without consent.
  • New features are also being introduced, including bulk removal requests for multiple images and an opt-in filtering safeguard that proactively removes similar images if they are newly published after an initial removal request.

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Google announced that it is further simplifying the request service it has previously provided for removing non-consensual explicit sexual imagery from Google Search.

The service, which Google has offered for some time, allows users to request the removal of web content from search results if explicit images of themselves or their family members have been created or shared without consent. Essentially, it is a request service designed to eliminate private images—such as “revenge porn”—that have been published without consent through the malice of third parties from Google Search.

While this service has been available for several years, Google periodically simplifies the request forms and processes.

With this latest simplification, users can now request the removal of multiple images in bulk. Specifically, users can click the three dots on a target image in search results, select “Remove result,” then choose “It shows my explicit images,” and proceed to select the relevant images.

In addition, several new features are being introduced: an opt-in filtering safeguard that proactively executes removal requests if similar versions of the removed image are newly published; links to specialized organizations providing emotional and legal support; and the ability to track the progress of removal requests through “Results about you.”

These new features, including the simplified removal request service for non-consensual explicit sexual imagery, are scheduled to roll out in most countries over the coming days, with further expansion to more regions planned.
