On Friday, July 3, 2026 (local time), Google announced the launch of the “Google Play Indie Games Fund in Africa,” the first of its kind for the sub-Saharan Africa region, which stands as the fastest-growing indie game market globally.
Through the “Google Play Indie Games Fund,” a total of $1 million will be awarded to 10 promising local indie game studios to support their business expansion. Each of these studios will receive financial assistance ranging from $50,000 to $200,000, in addition to guidance from dedicated mentors and hands-on technical support.
The “Google Play Indie Games Fund” is exclusively for indie game studios based in Africa, and the deadline for applications is Friday, July 31, 2026.
