Originally launched around July 2024 for the “Google Play Store” app on Android 10 and later in the US, “Google Play Collections” is a personalized space for discovering new apps and content.

The rollout of “Google Play Collections” has since expanded, and it began launching in Japan around October 2025. “Google Play Collections” is available as a widget for the “Google Play Store” app that can be added to the home screen, with two different widget types provided.

“Google Play Collections” is a personalized space for Android 10 and later, allowing users to find new apps and other content related to specific topics or resume content they previously started. The main interface is the “App Library,” which categorizes apps, alongside tabs for “Watch,” “Games,” “Read,” and “Listen.”

These tabs display customized recommendations for apps, games, videos, e-books, and music. Users can also toggle each of the “Watch,” “Games,” “Read,” and “Listen” tabs ON or OFF through the settings.

Four new tabs—”Travel,” “Social,” “Shop,” and “Food”—have now been added to “Google Play Collections.” These four new tabs are turned OFF by default.

The addition of these four tabs to “Google Play Collections” was partially predicted based on in-app code as of late November 2025. While they have now been officially added, it is a silent update with no formal announcement from Google.
