On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Google officially announced the new-generation Google Pixel smartwatch, the “Google Pixel Watch 5,” at its new product launch event, “Made by Google (Made by Google 2026).”
Like its predecessor, the “Google Pixel Watch 4,” the “Google Pixel Watch 5” comes in two sizes—41mm and 45mm—and offers two model variations: a Bluetooth / Wi-Fi model and a 4G LTE model. The case color lineup has an irregular configuration: the 41mm size is available in four colors (“Matte Black,” “Polished Silver,” “Satin Pyrite,” and “Champagne Gold”), while the 45mm size is available in three colors (“Matte Black,” “Polished Silver,” and “Satin Pyrite”).
The official retail prices are 62,800 yen (tax included) for the 41mm Bluetooth / Wi-Fi model, 79,800 yen (tax included) for the LTE model, 67,800 yen (tax included) for the 45mm Bluetooth / Wi-Fi model, and 84,800 yen (tax included) for the LTE model. The release date is Thursday, August 20, 2026. Pre-orders are already available on Google’s official e-commerce site, the “Google Store.”
Additionally, a regular launch commemorative campaign is running until 11:59 PM on Friday, September 4, 2026. This campaign offers up to 31,000 yen in effective savings by trading in an eligible smartwatch.
“Google Pixel Watch 5”
The “Google Pixel Watch 5” is the fifth-generation model in the Google Pixel smartwatch series.
Designed specifically for the next-generation intelligent system “Gemini Intelligence” and the healthcare service “Google Health,” its standout feature is providing proactive support right when you need it. The usability of raising your wrist and speaking to “Gemini” has been significantly enhanced, allowing you to directly start workouts, set timers, and check reservation details from “Gmail.”
Furthermore, proactive suggestion features powered by “Gemini Intelligence” will be rolled out sequentially in the future. With these proactive suggestions, the “Google Pixel Watch 5” automatically detects and displays relevant information such as contacts and appointments, letting you complete selections, confirmations, and sending with a simple double-pinch gesture.
Powering these features on the “Google Pixel Watch 5” is the newly adopted “Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated” processor. Featuring a power-efficient dual-chip architecture, it offers 50% more RAM, a 12% boost in CPU performance, and a 20% increase in processing speed compared to the previous “Google Pixel Watch 4.”
Health and fitness features have also been vastly improved on the “Google Pixel Watch 5.” By combining 3D building models in “Google Maps” with a global weather observation network, the new positioning technology achieves twice the GPS route tracking accuracy of the previous model, allowing for high-precision location tracking even in challenging environments like urban canyons or dense forests.
Scheduled to launch in autumn 2026, the new “Strength Training” feature provides step-by-step guidance for sets and rest periods to support users during strength workouts. The “Google Health Coach” analyzes recovery metrics such as sleep and heart rate variability (HRV) to offer tailored workout recommendations based on your current state.
The “Google Pixel Watch 5” features a 15% improvement in sleep stage detection accuracy, along with a feature that automatically pauses audiobooks when you fall asleep, and a “Smart Alarm” that wakes you up at the optimal time based on your heart rate and body movement.
In addition, a new “Health Guardian” feature has been introduced to proactively detect changes in health status. Powered by “Health Foundation Models” trained on vast sensor data from consenting users, the new “Health Guardian” generates three new monthly trend summaries: “Vascular Stress,” “Sleep Breathing Quality Trends,” and “Metabolic Stress.”
“Health Guardian” delivers its first detailed summary one month after you begin wearing the “Google Pixel Watch 5.”
On the design front, it features a dome-shaped Actua 360 display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, eleven new glanceable complication styles, and two new watch faces. It also supports “Generative Watch Faces” that let you reflect your own personal style.
The device adopts a repairable design and comes in new colors including “Fog,” “Canyon” (exclusive to the 41mm model), and “Olive,” alongside a new “Pyrite” housing. The bands are made from a soft-touch HNBR material for enhanced comfort.
Battery life is up to 30 hours for the 41mm size and up to 40 hours for the 45mm size. Using the fast-charging holder, both the 41mm and 45mm sizes can charge up to 50% in about 15 minutes.
The “Google Pixel Watch 5” supports pairing with Android devices running Android 12 or later. Furthermore, the Japan version of the “Google Pixel Watch 5” includes FeliCa support and naturally supports “Osaifu-Keitai.”
