  • Introducing my hands-on experience with the moisture detection feature implemented in the “Google Pixel Watch 4.”
  • It’s a safety feature that detects moisture and stops charging when the side-mounted charger connection or the charger itself is wet.
  • When moisture is detected, an alert appears on both the “Google Pixel Watch 4” and the paired Android device, stating, “Dry your smartwatch and charger, then wait 1 minute before resuming charging.”

The new generation Google Pixel smartwatch, “Google Pixel Watch 4,” was released on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

I use it daily, and I’d like to share my hands-on experience with the moisture detection feature implemented in the “Google Pixel Watch 4.” Come to think of it, the “Google Pixel Watch 4” did have a moisture detection feature, didn’t it?

The moisture detection feature in the “Google Pixel Watch 4” appears to be a safety function that detects wetness at the side-mounted charger connection or on the charger itself and stops charging. When moisture is actually detected, an alert appears on both the “Google Pixel Watch 4” and the paired Android device, stating, “Dry your smartwatch and charger, then wait 1 minute before resuming charging.”

Charging will not resume until the moisture issue is resolved as instructed by the alert.

In my case, I often take off my “Google Pixel Watch 4” before working out at the gym and showering, give it a light rinse and a quick wipe, and then place it on the charger. This alert frequently appears. It feels much more sensitive than the models before the “Google Pixel Watch 3.”

However, since it’s a safety feature designed to protect the device and the user, I’ll make sure to dry it thoroughly before placing it on the charger from now on.
