On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Google began rolling out the December 2025 software update for its three smartwatch series: the second-generation Google Pixel Watch 2, the third-generation Google Pixel Watch 3, and the fourth-generation Google Pixel Watch 4. This update includes a minor OS update to Wear OS 6.1.
This December 2025 software update for the Google Pixel Watch 2, Google Pixel Watch 3, and Google Pixel Watch 4, which includes the Wear OS 6.1 update, brings not only security updates but also new features for the Google Pixel Watch 3 and Google Pixel Watch 4. Software updates for the Google Pixel Watch series are delivered “Over the Air (OTA).” You can check if a software update is available by going to Wear OS Settings > System > Device info > System updates.
- In Wear OS settings, tap on [System].
- Tap on [Device info].
- Tap on [System updates].
Also, as a little trick, if you repeatedly tap the watch icon on the [System updates] screen, the software update will often appear relatively quickly. By the way, this method still works on the Google Pixel Watch 4.
