It appears that the “SpongeBob” and “Wicked” themes, which were available in the “Theme Pack” app for Google Pixel devices (Pixel 6 and later), have been discontinued as of early May 2026, just as previously announced.
The “Theme Pack” app for Google Pixel devices is a new feature introduced as part of the November 2025 Pixel Drop. By applying themes available within the “Theme Pack” app, users can collectively customize their wallpapers, icons, system sounds, and GIF animations to match the specific theme.
While the “Wicked” theme, inspired by the movie of the same name, was released alongside the November 2025 Pixel Drop, Japan was not initially included in the list of supported countries for the “Theme Pack” app. It wasn’t until the March 2026 Pixel Drop that the feature arrived in Japan, bringing with it the new “SpongeBob” theme.
Although the “Wicked” theme was originally scheduled for removal by January 31, 2026—and thus was not originally available in Japan—it was quietly released in the Japanese market at the same time as the March 2026 Pixel Drop. It is likely that this was a special, localized arrangement for Japan.
As of early May 2026, distribution of both the “SpongeBob” and “Wicked” themes has ended in the “Theme Pack” app. However, users who have already applied (downloaded) these themes can continue to use them.
Furthermore, a “Harry Potter” theme has emerged as the next candidate for the “Theme Pack” app. It is expected to arrive around the time of the June 2026 Pixel Drop.
