- Google has quietly updated the software update guarantee period for the “Pixel Tablet,” which was released on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, about two and a half years ago.

In late January 2026, Google updated the “Get software updates on your Pixel Tablet and Charging Speaker Dock” page within the official “Google Pixel Tablet Help” site. In doing so, they quietly changed the update guarantee period for the Google Pixel Tablet, which was released on Tuesday, June 20, 2023—about two and a half years ago.
Originally, the update guarantee for the “Pixel Tablet” was set at three years for software version updates (major OS updates) and five years for security updates. However, it has now been revealed that software version updates have also been extended to five years after the release date.
This means that the “Pixel Tablet,” released on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, will receive both software version and security updates until June 2028, five years after its launch. This represents a two-year extension for software version updates compared to the original plan.
Incidentally, the Japanese support page “Google Pixel Tablet と充電スピーカー ホルダーでソフトウェア アップデートを入手する” has not been updated yet. This indicates that Google updated the English “Get software updates on your Pixel Tablet and Charging Speaker Dock” page to change the guarantee period very recently.
Google previously updated the update guarantee periods for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, and Pixel Fold, extending software version updates from the original three years to five years. At that time, the Pixel Tablet seemed to have been left behind, but it has now finally been included in this “rescue.”
That said, recent Google Pixel devices have also been plagued by some critical issues. The situation is a bit concerning, particularly with the battery overheating issues occurring with the Pixel 6a.
While the extension of software version updates for the Pixel Tablet is straightforwardly good news, we certainly hope it doesn’t suffer from any critical hardware defects.
