The Impact of Memory Shortage: Rumored 8GB RAM for Pixel 11 and 12GB/16GB for Pro Models

Key Points of This Article
  • Disturbing rumors suggest that the “Pixel 11” series may be impacted by the global memory shortage.
  • According to leaker “The_Tech_Fusion (@techh_fusion),” the Pixel 11 will be equipped with 8GB of RAM, while the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold will come with 12GB of RAM as standard.
  • The Pixel 11 Pro will also feature a premium 16GB RAM model in its lineup.

It is now 2026, and the world is facing a global memory shortage.

Manufacturers are struggling to secure memory components, and the costs of the memory itself have skyrocketed. Consequently, companies have been forced to raise the prices of their devices.

Also of concern are the upcoming new devices. The most notable among them is the next-generation Google Pixel series, the “Pixel 11,” which is rumored to be announced in August 2026. However, some troubling rumors have emerged suggesting that it will be impacted by this global memory shortage.

In the currently available Google Pixel 10 series, the standard “Pixel 10” features 12GB of RAM, while the “Pixel 10 Pro,” “Pixel 10 Pro XL,” and “Pixel 10 Pro Fold” come with 16GB. However, according to leaker “The_Tech_Fusion (@techh_fusion)” on Threads, the “Pixel 11” will be equipped with 8GB of RAM, while the base models for the “Pixel 11 Pro,” “Pixel 11 Pro XL,” and “Pixel 11 Pro Fold” will drop to 12GB.

It is reported that a premium 16GB RAM model will be available for the “Pixel 11 Pro,” though it will likely carry a high price tag. Incidentally, if Google does indeed offer varying RAM configurations for its Pixel devices, this would be a first for the “Pixel Pro” series.

Of course, the credibility of this information is unconfirmed, and the source remains unclear. Nevertheless, considering the global memory shortage, this decision by Google could be considered an inevitable move.

The real question is how much this reduction in RAM specs will affect performance; one would assume it will be compensated for by the processor, associated AI features, and software optimizations. Perhaps that’s a silly question to ask.
