  • The “Pixel 11 Pro Fold” features a new NFC location and NFC touch point.
  • Unlike the previous “Pixel Fold,” “Pixel 9 Pro Fold,” and “Pixel 10 Pro Fold,” which had NFC on the back, it has now been moved to the top of the front.
  • For NFC contactless payments and reading “My Number Cards” and “driver’s licenses,” you’ll now need to touch the top of the front display.

The new foldable Google Pixel device, “Pixel 11 Pro Fold,” was released on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

The “Pixel 11 Pro Fold” features significant evolution, including Google’s fastest and most powerful dedicated chip ever, the “Tensor G6,” along with the latest “Gemini Nano” model. It is also about 1mm thinner and about 10% lighter than the previous-generation “Pixel 10 Pro Fold,” with a threefold increase in body durability. However, I discovered an even more important change regarding its daily use, which I would like to introduce.

The change in the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold” is the location of the NFC chip and NFC touchpoint. While previous models like the “Pixel Fold,” “Pixel 9 Pro Fold,” and “Pixel 10 Pro Fold” had it placed on the back, it has surprisingly been moved to the top of the front panel on the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold.”

In other words, for NFC contactless payments, reading “My Number cards,” driver’s licenses, and the like, you now need to tap the upper part of the front display. Of course, the same applies to FeliCa-based payments as well.

Note that on the “Pixel 11 Pro XL,” the NFC location remains on the back, just like previous Google Pixel devices.

If you are planning to get the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold”—especially those considering an upgrade from the “Pixel Fold,” “Pixel 9 Pro Fold,” or “Pixel 10 Pro Fold”—please keep this change in mind.
