On Friday, October 2, 2026, Google posted content on social media showcasing the durability testing of the new foldable Google Pixel device, the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold,” which was released about a month and a half earlier on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
The “Pixel 11 Pro Fold” is one of the few foldable devices that supports IP68 dust and water resistance standards. While IP68 support for foldable Google Pixel devices began with the previous model, the “Pixel 10 Pro Fold,” the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold” features enhanced durability performance, being lighter and having approximately three times the strength of the “Pixel 10 Pro Fold.”
The key to the enhanced durability of the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold” lies in its newly redesigned hinge and renewed back cover. These changes significantly increase its resistance to cracking compared to the “Pixel 10 Pro Fold.” At Google’s hardware testing facility, the “Reliability Lab,” the durability of the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold” was verified through more than 83.5 million opening and closing tests.
Please note that the IP68 standard represents performance at the time of factory shipment and does not guarantee complete water and dust resistance. Naturally, performance degrades due to normal wear and tear, repairs, disassembly, or damage, and drops can also result in the loss of water and dust resistance.
Additionally, damage caused by external factors such as drops or liquid damage is not covered under warranty. Please be aware of this.
