- Google announces emoji reactions for shared albums in Google Photos, now rolling out as a new feature.
- Similar to Google Chat, Gmail, and Google Messages, users can now react with any emoji of their choice.
- Currently rolling out on the Android and iOS versions of the Google Photos app.
On Thursday, October 22, 2026 (local time), Google announced the rollout of emoji reactions as a new feature for shared albums in the online photo library service “Google Photos.”
In shared albums on Google Photos, users could previously rate photos and videos with a “♡ (Like)” or post comments. Now, this “♡ (Like)” has been upgraded to emoji reactions—similar to those in Google Chat, Gmail, and Google Messages—allowing users to react with any emoji they like.
Emoji reactions in Google Photos shared albums are currently rolling out on the Android and iOS versions of the Google Photos app. Availability on the desktop version of Google Photos has not yet been confirmed.
