- Google has rolled out a new setting for “Google Photos” that allows users to disable the automatically generated background music (BGM) in “Memories.”
- This new feature was introduced in response to user feedback.
- In addition to stopping the playback of BGM added to “Memories,” if a video is included within the “Memories,” the original audio of the video will now play as it is.
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (local time), Google began rolling out a new setting for its online photo library service, “Google Photos,” which allows users to disable the automatically generated background music (BGM) in “Memories.”
The “Memories” feature in “Google Photos” is a popular function where AI picks out photos and videos taken around the same time in past years and highlights them in a slideshow format. However, this feature automatically added and played BGM, which had received negative feedback from some users.
The newly added BGM disable setting for “Google Photos” Memories is designed to respond to this user feedback. It allows users to stop the automatic playback of BGM added to Memories, and if a video is included within a Memory, the original audio of the video will now be played back as-is.
The setting to disable BGM in Google Photos Memories will be introduced to the Web, Android, and iOS versions of the “Google Photos” app.
