- In short, the “Google Health” app will finally enable dual-device operation—something not possible with the original “Fitbit” app—allowing users to wear the “Google Pixel Watch 4” during exercise or throughout the day and switch to the “Fitbit Air” for sleep tracking.
On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the official Google online store, “Google Store,” published a blog post titled [Gentle AI on Your Wrist: Effortless Health Management with ‘Google Fitbit Air’], introducing the screenless wearable tracker “Fitbit Air,” which was announced on the same day.
Within that blog post, it was revealed that the new “Google Health” app, which will gradually replace the current “Fitbit” app starting Tuesday, May 19, 2026, will support the simultaneous pairing of two Fitbit wearable devices. This point had remained ambiguous during the initial announcement of the “Google Health” app.
While the current “Fitbit” app specification only allows for pairing with a single wearable device, the new “Google Health” app will support simultaneous pairing for two Fitbit-series wearables. In other words, the “Google Health” app finally makes dual-device operation possible—a feature the “Fitbit” app could not handle—allowing users to wear their “Google Pixel Watch 4” during daytime activities or workouts and switch to the “Fitbit Air” when heading to sleep.
Data from Fitbit-series wearables paired simultaneously to the “Google Health” app is synchronized and consolidated under a single Google account. This ensures that even if you switch devices between exercise and sleep, your health data tracking remains seamless. This is a long-awaited feature for many users.

Furthermore, data collected by Fitbit-series wearables will not be used for Google advertising purposes, ensuring that your privacy is fully protected.
